Upholstery classes are offered on a monthly basis year-round and are taught personally by Matthew Haly and one of his upholstery apprentices. Participants receive rare hands-on instruction from one of the hailed leaders in the industry as they learn the fundamentals of upholstery and work toward the realization of an ottoman from frame to completed form.
Due to the varying degrees of difficulty in upholstery and furniture design, students are not allowed to bring their personal pieces. All essential tools and equipment will be provided, though students are encouraged to bring a fabric that inspires them. After four weeks of intense hand-tying of springs, precisely applying foam and fabric, and learning to fold immaculate corners, the final ottoman project will be the student’s to take home. Class size is limited to 8-10 people to ensure plenty of personal instruction and ample hands-on practice time.
